This event is a fundraiser for the Standing Rock Indian reservation and the needs of those on the front line in opposition of the North Dakota Access Pipeline
Recognition and The Uprising Movement band invite you to a special night of support in solidarity with the water protectors in North Dakota at Standing Rock. The current unjust travesty touches us all and leaves us longing for ways to help.
At Casanova (Nov. 11, 830pm, $10, Makawao)
we will be gathering to join in song, dance, prayer, and in spirit, to Honor The Earth. The #NODAPL pipeline threatens the water and the way of life for millions of people. Let us together generate proceeds to send to those who are enduring the hardships and battling the black snake.
About Uprising Movement:
After growing up in the Pacific Northwest, then spending over a decade living on Maui, Recognition moved back to Seattle 2 years ago, to raise his daughter near family and focus on music. Upon meeting multi-instrumentalist Richie Audin, and together spending a year travelling and performing at music festivals, The Uprising Movement was born.
With a unique sound influenced by elements of folk, reggae, and hip hop, combined with powerful conscious words and dynamic improvisational elements at shows, they are quickly growing a large grassroots following. With a busy summer playing transformational festivals in Minnesota, Oregon, Canada and Arizona, they are looking forward to coming home for these shows in Hawaii.
